Webinar: Dare to Believe Interview with two of Irelands Top Athletes Rhys McClenaghan and Aidan Walsh

Their determination, the knocks backs they encountered, the endurance and the hard work it takes to get to their level was very evident as well as their love for their sport.

Box Aerobics - the whole school engaged in a 6 week course of Box Aerobics.  This was something totally new for the children and they really gave it 100%.  They learnt the fundamentals of boxing while incorporating fun and some dance elements.  Each class was up beat and exploding with energy.

Our School Walkway

During the month of March, the school grounds were a hive of activity setting up the walkway for the school.  The route was carefully planned, distances calculated, health and safety features considered, maps drawn, positions of the walkway signs discussed and positioned.  The signs were attached to the selected locations.

The lead teacher put together a box of clipboards, folders with laminated walkway sheets and answer sheets, whiteboard pens, and ideas booklets. Classes had an information session on how to use the walkway and where to find the materials.

Mega Walkway Activity

In consultation with the pupils, the Mega Walkway Activity took place in June. This involved the children taking part in teams of 4. First, Second, Third and Fourth Class worked together, while Fifth and Sixth Class took part with Junior and Senior Infants.

Sports Clubs Survey

Our Active Flag Committee carried out a survey among all the children in our school to identify the different activities the children are involved in after school.  We found that most children were participating in 2 or 3 different activities.

It was very interesting to learn about all the different clubs in our local area.

GAA, Taekwondo, Soccer, Dancing, Athletics, Basketball, Gymnastics, Rugby,  Swimming, Tennis, Horse Riding, Other

Suggestion Box

A suggestion box was placed in the corridor of the school where every child was encouraged to post any ideas that they thought would be a fun activity that the whole school community could participate in while keeping with the framework of the Active Flag.
